A view from my side.
I am the Technology Director for a small independent school in America’s deep south. I have worked in either technology or education since 1982, when I enrolled in graduate school and was a Teaching Assistant. I am a Certified PK-12 ESL teacher, a Certified Secondary School Technology teacher, and, many contend, just plain certifiable.
I am an Army brat, born in khaki diapers at an Army hospital. I have lived in 8 states and 2 countries and traveled in three continents. I am an unapologetic liberal. I am the product of public schools and have taught in schools where 100% of the children received free breakfast and lunch as well as schools of privilege.
I have learned from many great and wonderful people over the years, both in formal classroom settings as well as out and about in the world. I have also learned from many mean and spiteful people. Along the road, I have encountered complete incompetence at the top and undeniable talent in the trenches. I have witnessed horrible injustice and been the victim of it more than once. I hope I have not inflicted it on anyone, but I suppose that is often the judgment of the one upon whom it is inflicted.
Oh…I’ve also been known to coach a soccer team or two here and there.
