What Was I Thinking: Married/Divorced x 3

A view from my side.

USA v Scotland and a Pimm’s Cup

What a match!!  3 goals in the first 15 minutes last night.  Landon Donovan has been criticized lately for saying that he just isn’t feeling the same passion for soccer that he used to.  And then he steps onto the pitch and scores a Hat Trick against the Scottish National team.  A 5-1 total victory for the United States team, it is the first of several international friendlies as we prepare for the 2014 World Cup (our Mens Team having failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympics).

So, while the rest of the world plays in London, I shall be watching with a distinctly English drink in hand this summer.  A Pimms Cup.  The Pimm’s Cup is to Wimbledon what the Mint Julep is to the Kentucky Derby.  It is a relatively simple drink and actually quite refreshing on a hot summer day.  Pimm’s is only 50 proof so it goes down smooth and easy.  While there are many different recipes for it, I follow a very simple one.

You need a tall glass of ice.  Fill about half of the glass with Pimm’s.  Then, top it off with 7Up.  It will foam a bit, so pour slowly.  A quick stir with a swizzle stick or teaspoon and you’re set.  Feel free to add a slice of lemon or lime if you get the urge.  A tasty, refreshing drink for a hot summer afternoon.  But be careful, the low alcohol content can be deceiving.

July 25 will find me glued to a tube somewhere, Pimm’s in hand as our Women’s National Team takes on the French in the Summer Olympics.

Will have to try a Pimm’s Cup on the next England friendly! Watched yesterday…was interesting to see new manager with his team… have a long way to go before they can make it to the finals though. 🙂

A very long way indeed. Still, they looked good. Clean, crisp passing and quick counters. The pace of the match was brutal as well. The boys are fit! And, when Dempsey returns from his injury and Altidore takes the field, the level of play will kick up another notch.

Would like to have seen more possession and less swapping of squad members; although, Hodgson does have to try out all the guys. Nice having the Carroll/Ashley combo up front but they need to work with each other a bit more I think. Overall… they look decent as a team. Missed USA friendly >.<!

I know nothing of this alcohol you speak of… are you being sarcastic when you say “low alcohol content”??

No, not at all. It is only 50 proof. A higher alcohol content than beer and wine, but much lower than whiskey and tequila.

ahhhhh, so my mojitos would really hurt ya. LOL. Made the mistake of making them with 101 proof and came face to face with the porcelain god.
But, fruit mojitos make great summer drinks.
