What Was I Thinking: Married/Divorced x 3

A view from my side.

Flank Steak Teriyaki

The last three nights I’ve been on the field around supper time working with the boys as they play their way through the tournament.  We went 3-0 through the Round Robin, earning 27 points, enough to put us in the Championship match tomorrow at 1:00 pm.  Tonight, though, we have a break in the play and I find myself in the kitchen once again.  I’ve always liked Flank steak and have a favorite way of preparing it.  I’ve been thinking about it all week and finally had my chance.

Ingredients –

1.5 lb Flank Steak

1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup salad oil
2 tbsp molasses
2 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp dry mustard
4 cloves minced garlic

Slice the steak in thin strips, going against the grain.

Combine the other ingredients and mix well.  Place the steak strips in a

container and pour over the marinade.  Toss the strips to ensure complete coverage and let sit, at room temperature, for at least 30 minutes.  I let mine sit for about 45 tonight.

Grill the strips for about 4-7 minutes over hot coals.  If you don’t have/want to

use an outdoor grill, any of the indoor grills will do.  If you have one that “closes” and cooks both sides at the same time, you may want to adjust your cooking time a bit to take the dual cooking surfaces into account.

I plated ours tonight with wild rice and steamed snow peas.  Add a glass of water and and nice Rhone, I was out for just under 500 calories.

It’s good to be home for supper again.  Yeah…mighty tasty.
